Battleship visit, candid pics (Saturday, July 20)

So imagine being a kid and parking in front of this battleship.  How excited would you be to know you were about to be allowed to explore all its nooks and crannies and potentially fire (or pretend to fire) some of its guns?  Yes, my kids were about to explode they were so excited.

You could pivot this big gun all around.  Can you imagine the 'boom boom' sounds coming out of David's mouth?  This is little boy paradise.  I imagine men of all ages think it is pretty cool.

An airplane on a battleship!

I love these patriotic colors.  Wilmington would have been a fun town to do some more exploring in but we only had time to visit the ship this time.

Here we are in one of the nooks and crannies of the ship.  There was a lot to explore!

And the kitchen way down below deck.  The kids were hoping for mac n' cheese in the big pot.  No luck.

4 bunks high on each row.  About 50 per room.  Can you imagine?

And the nuclear weapons... (according to my kids)
