David's 1st Communion - May 25

Sunday, May 25th was a big day for David!  After 2 years of study and preparations, David finally received our Lord in holy communion in the presence of his Godparents and many family members.  He was very excited to wear his fancy and "comfortable" clothes and I have to say he looked just like his Daddy all dressed up.  We were so proud!
Proud Mom and Dad
David got to participate in the mass by bringing up the gifts.  His big sister Emily was excited to be included in this honor as well.  Father George made this a very special day by announcing David's first communion at the beginning of mass, during the prayer intentions and for a round of applause at the end of mass.  Poor David did not care for all the attention!

Here is David bowing before our Lord in the holy eucharist.  We practiced this many times!

Father George is telling David to come closer here...

And here he is receiving holy communion for the first time.  How exciting!  These pictures aren't the best as I was taking them into the light but you get the idea...

Proud Godparents!  (And David, bless his heart just wants to go home!)
Proud Family (minus Isaac)
Oh, Blessed Day!  We went on to have a lovely reception at our house with pulled pork bbq, pigs in a blanket, potato salad, coleslaw and cake!  With all the preparations, the cake didn't get iced and decorated till the morning of the party.  Thank goodness Emily took over for me because I ran out of time!  She did an awesome job, didn't she?

And now we have enjoyed David's 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th communion as well!  I suppose we will stop counting at some point but we have really enjoyed having him fully participate at mass now and it is fun to make a big deal about it.  So now it is Lia's turn.  Her 1st grade preparations will officially begin this fall.  :-)

Isaac's 2 Month Anniversary with Great Grandma and Family

May 24th marked Isaac's 2 month anniversary and David's 1st Communion weekend.  We were very blessed to have Great Grandma, Aunt Val, Aunt Debbie, and Aunt Elaine drive down from Dallas for the occasion.  My cousin Ben and his sweet wife Andrea hosted a fajita dinner for us Saturday night and we were able to get in a great visit.  My Dad gets credit for these great photos.

I love that everyone jumped in for this photo.  And look at David's genuine smile!

And here's one for the baby book!  Grandma was surprise at how heavy Isaac was.  Yes, my piggy poo only stayed newborn size for about a week!

I love that my sweet baby boy is smiling and "talking" with my Aunt Val here.  Babies are so much fun!

Hudson is a whirl of happy activity and I had a difficult time getting him to "pose" for a picture!  I was glad to capture a few pictures of my kids playing with him as they really seemed to enjoy making him laugh and smile.  It will be fun to see them playing with their own baby brother in this way when  he gets older... though I'm not ready for him to grow up just yet!

Aunt Debbie got you Isaac!

8 week updates

Isaac is rapidly approaching his 2 month anniversary!  He is a happy, smiley and VERY hungry baby!  His 8 week milestones include more smiling, cooing and focusing in on us when we sing to him or talk to him.  He has this really cool talent of lifting one eyebrow, which delights all of us and I really hope he will be able to do this consciously when he's older.  No matter how hard I try, I cannot lift one eyebrow!  He can also squeal with delight... he did this while lying in the cradle last night after the lights were out and before he fell asleep.  I posted him sleeping through the night last week.  He continues to sleep from 12:00 till about 5:30am with an occasional exception for a 3am feeding.  It is certainly a relief to get some longer intervals of sleep.  Momma needs her rest too!
He has all his siblings around him... hence the big smile!

Isaac loves his David!

And in other happenings this week... David and Emily took 3 days of standardized tests this week.  This was Emily's second time to take the Stanford test and she was excited to do it this year (believe it or not!)... She said, "Oh, I love the Standford test!  It's pretty easy, they have cool snacks and we don't have to do school when we get home in the afternoons!"  So there you have it.  It was David's first time testing and he did great.  He was disappointed that we won't find out his scores for a few weeks though.  My homeschooled boy is used to finding out how he does on things pretty much immediately since I do the grading.  We'll see...

In other news, to reward the kids on their first day of testing, I renewed our pool passes and took them to our local pool.  They were pleased to see another boy who took the Stanford test with them there that day.  The water was freezing... but they didn't care.  And they are going to have a very difficult time finishing up their school work this year.  My plan is to school through the end of the month and then take a much needed summer break.  It can't come soon enough!

Being silly...

Yes, I sat in the shade and watched the kids while chatting with Isaac.  It's a tough job but someone's got to do it!

And last, I took this one last night of Isaac in his very appropriately labeled 'The Very Hungry Caterpillar' pajamas he got from his Nana.  This was taken at about 10:00 at a night.  He doesn't look too tired does he?  He didn't nod off till after 11:30... but treated me to sleep till 5am!  And by the way, these PJs swallowed him about a month ago and now he fills them out quite nicely.

My milk monster slept through the night!  And I am happy to report that I closed my eyes last night at 11pm and did not reopen them till almost 7 this morning!  Oh how I do not miss you, 3am!  But will it last...

Happy Mother's Day

May 11, 2014

First Family Picture
I am currently up to date on this blog!  It is still Mother's Day (for about 45 more minutes) and I am actually posting the family pictures we took today after church!  This makes me so happy!  Well I had an awesome Mother's Day today.  Sweet Isaac didn't cut me any slack in the sleep department but the rest of my family spoiled me rotten today.  Emily and her Daddy made me breakfast in bed, which I enjoyed immensely.  Emily sang with the children's choir at church and I was able to receive Father Tom's blessing for all the mothers which is one of my favorite parts of  Mother's day.

Mom and the Kids
If breakfast in bed wasn't enough to spoil a girl, we went out to eat after church and I had Migas at Dosey Does for brunch.  Follow that with a decadent nap in the middle of the afternoon and you have one very happy Mom.  Chris also surprised me with these beautiful orchids.  Yes, Life is good.

And what Mother's Day wouldn't be complete without some fun with the baby...

Doggy bottom

I was playing around on Chris's phone when I came across these pictures of little Isaac's smiles.  I guess he has done a better job of capturing this milestone than I have!  I'll keep trying though!  I also edited my six weeks old post to include a quick video...

Melt my heart...

Saturday Crazies

They all participate really well if I tell them to act crazy...  Isaac fits right in, doesn't he?

Get me outta here!

Six Weeks Old

May 5-11

Isaac's 6th week antics include smiling with his whole face, more cooing and stronger neck control while on his tummy.  I don't have a lot to report for this week as it was pretty low key in terms of excitement but I did get some cute pictures.  :-)
