There was lots to do this weekend for David. He had 3 conflicts: football game, Cub Scout den meeting, and Tae Kwon Do tournament. The tournaments are only twice a year, and since he is serious about going all the way to black belt, we try to go to one a year. I think you have to go to 4 tournaments to get your black belt. Chris drove him to Giddings this morning and here they are!
It is super rainy so David got lucky in his choice. The outdoor football game and den meeting were cancelled!
He's warming up here. So serious. I'll post more as the pictures come in. :-)

Today was a service day for our family. We joined our homeschooling group and visited the retired priests at the St. Dominic center and dressed up as Saints!
The priests moved into their new beautiful facility this month and we enjoyed getting a tour. I love the St. Joseph statue in the courtyard.
Love my little St. Francis of Assisi running around!
The kids each gave a little presentation of the Saint they chose to dress up as. Lia picked St. Anne, Mary's mother, this year.
David chose St. George and the Dragon. He has been St. George every year since he was four. I guess heroes that slay dragons are perpetually cool.
Isaac is checking out Father's ring. He is certainly a charmer. One of the priests, Father Nills I think, is actually a Franciscan. How cool is that!
And I took this one the night before as I was putting Isaac's costume together. His friar robe is a $5.88 women's mock turtleneck from Walmart. I just lobbed off about 6" of the sleeves. The clip on bird we found at Michaels along with some manly ribbon. So cute.

Saturday, Lia and I took Isaac to the mall to get a haircut. While the haircut was a little challenging, we all enjoyed riding the carousel after. Isaac was a little scared of the horses going up and down so we rode together on the benches. He's holding on tight!
This is pretty much what Isaac does all day. He would prefer one of the other kids to ride with him and will ask throughout the day... "David, vroom vroom cars?", or "Lia, vroom vroom cars?", or just simply pound at the door saying, "Vroom vroom!" He has gotten incredibly fast at this... as you can see.

Around the first week of October, David started commenting that we hadn't started making preparations for his birthday. So we got busy picking a day to celebrate and inviting friends and family. He wanted a cinnamon cake like last year so I baked it the night before his party. It smelled so good that David asked me to cover it up and put it in the fridge or he'd never get to sleep!
After church, the kids got busy decorating the cake. They all wanted to help David.
"A Decade of David!"
We couldn't have had better weather or a more wonderful evening.
Love all the happy faces and raucous singing!
Happy Birthday David!

Chris and David went camping with the cub scouts this weekend so the girls and I decided we should do something fun too. Our homeschool group has been visiting P6 Farms for years as a private group but the timing never seems to work out for us. We decided to go this weekend, when it is open to the public.
There are lots of places to play!
And culvert slides... Thank goodness for fun loving big sisters. I did not have to go down that thing!
Rubber ducky races.
More culvert play.
Emily was good at this!
Wheel barrow races. Isaac not so sure about this but being a good sport.
Lia is squealing here.
And the adorable cow train! We thought Isaac would love this but he was really scared. He didn't want to ride with Emily or I so we got him off before the train left and watched from the fence.
I know he'll totally want to do it next year!
And the corn maze! Lia and I did the younger kid version which is not too long and includes a story to read as you walk so you know you are going the right way.
Emily did the more complicated corn maze... She said it was no big deal but I think she downplayed the complexity. We'll see next time. It was really hot on Saturday so we didn't spend a lot of time in it.
Here is an aerial view of the maze!
And finally a stop at the pumpkin patch to get some pics of this cutie. :-)
Emily told him to put the pumpkin on his head.

And this guy continues to charm everyone. He's a perpetual smiley face and a whirlwind of trouble. He's talking up a storm and loves to say "Where did it go?"... while lifting and lowering his shirt to show us his bellybutton. He loves dogs, ducks and squirrels and wants to be outside all the time.
He spends a lot of time naming off his family members. He points us all out and says our names throughout the day. I suppose he likes to keep track of his people. It is pretty darn cute. If you ask him "Where's the Isaac?", he will point to himself.
This boy wants to be read to constantly! Thank goodness his siblings help out. He is insatiable right now!
And then there is "Vroom Vroom Cars" with David. They do this everyday. Isaac will call out "David, vroom vroom cars?"
Luckily, David likes to play.
This is Emily's 2nd year on her school's dance and cheer team. She really enjoys it and even gets herself up for the 7am practices every Tuesday! They got megaphones this year, and my kid really likes to use hers!
Our beautiful family of 6 creates a lot of laundry. I do laundry all the time! This guy really likes to help. He'll hand me things to fold, asking what it is and who it belongs to. He likes to put underwear on his head and of late, likes to put on David's shirts and then run around the house.
