Kauai Vacation: Wed Dec 16 - Kealia Hike and Bike Trail

Kealia Hike and Bike Trail

On Wedsday, we headed to the east side of the island to check out the new hike and bike trails along the coast. Here is Chris at one of the trail head signs... isn't it cool they can use satellite images like this! Since yesterday's hike was so tough, it was nice and easy to walk on a well paved path by the ocean. We even got to see humpback whales!

The kids worked out an arrangement so they could all ride in the stroller. Lia sat on Emily's lap and David on the hubcab. Soon thereafter, Lia became Grandpa's girl. They looked perfectly sweet walking together.
."I like walking with Grandpa."

We had the mountains on our left and ocean on our right. What a way to get your morning excercise!Grandpa and Lia are whale watching here. We didn't get to see a whale hurl it self out of the water (breach) that day... but we did see lots of spouts and some fin splashing.

We stopped at Donkey Beach to rest and have a snack. You used to have to park by the highway and hike to this beach... it was rumored to be a nude beach but that has probably changed since the hike and bike trail came through. Regardless, it is lovely. On the way back, Lia must have felt sorry for her Daddy and all his hard work pushing the stroller so she took over to give him a break.

And after all that hard work, we got to relax at the condo and hang out at the pool. This little area where Lia is playing is only six inches deep. We called it the baby pool.

More adventures to come.
