I was playing around on Chris's phone when I came across these pictures of little Isaac's smiles.  I guess he has done a better job of capturing this milestone than I have!  I'll keep trying though!  I also edited my six weeks old post to include a quick video...

Six Weeks Old

May 5-11

Isaac's 6th week antics include smiling with his whole face, more cooing and stronger neck control while on his tummy.  I don't have a lot to report for this week as it was pretty low key in terms of excitement but I did get some cute pictures.  :-)

Easy fix for broken baby swing...

My baby swing, which I've had since 2003, has a broken motor.  I was pleased to find that I could order a replacement motor from Graco's website for under $30... but while we are waiting on delivery, Isaac isn't too pleased to sit in a swing that doesn't move.  Lucky for me, I found this great work-around... called David Nelli.  

 

(Too bad he doesn't work at 3am!)

Five Weeks Old

April 28-May 4

At some point, I am going to have to move to monthly updates but I'm really having fun with these photo shoots so we'll see how long I can keep it up.  Isaac's 5th week anniversary had him flashing us more and more smiles.  Yes, he has all of his family members wrapped around his little finger.  We will do anything for those grins!

 



I'm sitting here and trying to think about what I should write, but honestly our days are all pretty much the same.  Isaac falls asleep at night around 11:00-11:30pm and has a feeding at about 3:30am in which he is starving.  Luckily, he goes back to sleep till about 6am and then starts nursing about every 2 hours after that.  He is quite demanding and does not like to wait for a feeding.  This kid starts screaming bloody murder the moment he decides it is time to eat.  I cannot tell you how many times a day one of my kids says, "Mommy, Isaac is hungry.  Can you feed him?"  He is also doing more and more baby exercises in his little seat where he pumps his arms and bicycles his legs...

The big kids get up at 9am with their alarm clocks and are downstairs by 9:30am for breakfast.  Our goal every day is to get our schoolwork done and I have just accepted that every day is a half day so that I can get a nap and maintain some kind of control over the laundry, kitchen, etc...  It isn't an ideal "schooling" environment but it works and the kids really do enjoy the day to day stuff with their baby brother.

 



Isaac has been throwing his head around quite a bit since he was born but he seems to be getting stronger in his neck... this picture from behind Emily is just so darn cute.

Four Weeks Old

In real time, Isaac will be 6 weeks old tomorrow, so I am slowly getting caught up!  And to update, I seemed to kick the mastitis bug out of my system with that 105 degree fever a week ago and Isaac's around the clock nursing.  He pretty much wants to nurse all the time.  I have this little rule in my head that he should not need to nurse more than every 2 hours.  Well, he has had other ideas and some days he is wanting to nurse about every hour and a half!  It is just plain crazy but... he is really fattening up and looks so darn healthy and cute that I know it must just be what he needs right now.

April 24, Isaac's One Month Anniversary

Happy Easter

The kids were set on attending the Easter Vigil service on Saturday night again this year.  They love lighting the candles, sitting in the dark during the bible readings and just being up late in general.  David gave up cookies and candy for lent so he was very excited for his late night cookie snack after mass.

 

 

We slept in late on Easter Sunday and had two things to do that day.  The first was a family picture of our 4 kids and the second was to dye some Easter eggs!  I'm happy to say we accomplished both goals.
