Oh yes, the time had to come in this toddler's life for the diapers to be thrown away! I don't need to dwell on this too much but would like to note that Isaac has been potty trained. The process began in April and is a work in progress. I literally kept him home and naked for about 2 weeks and that proved to be just the right program for him. The loss of diapers was kind of traumatic for him... he doesn't do change well but I will say he has taken to the potty like a champ. We have not (as of June 26) moved to the big potty as he is quite attached to his little one. The big potty is very scary and traumatic for him... he is definitely a comfort-zone child. We will be moving on to that task soon as we have to travel in mid July and I don't think bringing the little potty on the airplane is an option...? Ask me later how I handle it. ;-)
I'm not sure if a new oven in "blog worthy" but I would like to commemorate the occasion because we so rarely replace appliances! My old double oven came with the house and years ago (5?) the top oven stopped working. The bottom oven worked fine so there was no immediate need and being kind of busy with our crazy household I avoided this task. Since a new double oven would have to fit the cut out... I thought this job might be complicated. Luckily, I replaced Kenmore for Kenmore and though it didn't quite fit... it was not too difficult a job to make it fit by cutting away a few inches of the existing cabinetry. So glad to have this done!

I think it is lovely! It is just the basic double electric oven. The fact that it conserves energy is good... I guess... but it does take a while to pre-heat and then the fans take a while to cool it down once you turn it off... but all in all, I will call it a win! And it better last 20 years!
During April, Chris spent almost 3 weeks in China. Luckily, David's big camp out for Scouts only required me to follow a packing list and drop him off. I got all these pictures from other parents who were kind enough to post pics to Face Book. I really love that since I couldn't be there. Many Boy Scout Troops attend Camporee and there are all sorts of competitions for the boys.
Apparently they did really well in the competitions and won Honor Troop!
Here are the highlights I got from the posted video:
--Tied a square knot with our feet - 10pts
--Finished 3rd in the obstacle course
--Got 2nd place for log cutting
(well that's all there was...I'm guessing there was a lot more to it!)
This is a great video put together by one of the Scouts serving as Historian. The best part is the last 20 seconds or so when they announce the winners. David makes a cameo but sounds really irritated about the knot tying bit... one of the dads is just laughing at him.
Once he got back home, he had to set up the tent and rinse it off. I was super impressed to see how he could do it quickly all by himself.
Isaac wanted a PJ Mask themed birthday and boy, oh boy, did he get the best PJ Mask party ever!
Lia took on the cake making business and since it was Isaac's birthday she let him help in the important task of licking the bowl. Do you think he likes this?
Emily decorated the cake with Catboy, Owlette and Gecko... the main PJ Mask characters.
And here is our birthday boy! We asked Isaac what he wanted for his birthday party and he had very definite ideas. He requested that it be PJ Mask themed, that we have party hats and party blowers and he wanted balloons. I think we knocked out his wishlist! (Never mind the Finding Nemo party hats... that is the best I could find at Walmart)
And the cake was delicious! You've come a long way since your first birthday when you didn't like cake.
And the rest of the party.... plus the balloons. :-) I call it a successful birthday!
