A rather interesting tradition during beach week is Nonna's special lunch, held only for her grandchildren who are adventurous eaters. This year, Olivia, Christopher and Jed were invited to this exclusive affair. Nonna prepares something exotic for the kids to eat and she keeps it a big secret. The kids have to sample whatever she prepares and are not allowed to be negative or say things like "This is gross...".
When they are done eating, she tells them what they ate. Nonna showed me the "surprise" the night before and I took this picture. Cow Tounge. I wasn't present to see the kids eat it because I was at "Cooking with Aunt Stacey" which is held for the pickier eaters and involves baking desserts.... but I did see the video and it was priceless. All three kids loved the cow tounge and ate it with gusto. Imagine that!
