The Best $3.00 ever spent...

Chris likes to smoke an occasional cigar and has a favorite cigar shop which happens to be in the same shopping center as our favorite after church lunch place. Coincidence.... not sure. This cigar shop has a pile of empty cigar boxes that Emily happened to notice were being sold for a $1.00. Of course, all the kids wanted one and since Daddy was happy to be getting a cigar agreed to let them each pick out one. You would have thought these kids won the lottery. They spent a full 10 minutes going through the boxes and pickng out which one had the best metal clasp and which one was the best size and was wood better than cardboard... So $3.00 later (plus cost of said cigars) we had three kids proudly carrying their beloved new boxes to the car. After some thought, Emily decided she wanted to paper maiche her box and then paint it and use it as a bed for her penguin. So here are the kiddos working very hard at that project.

I'll have to get a picture of the finished product to finish this post. David and Lia were content to just shred newspaper. Emily actually made the paper maiche and pulp to coat her box. We dried it in the oven and she painted it. Then she sewed a little pillow out of some old clothes so Penguin would be comfy. She's a busy one, that Emily.
